Children with Down's syndrome are visual learners and reading is often a relative strength, it can be a skill they can begin to master at a very early age. We will look at how a whole-word approach to reading can support a child with DS, you'll learn how to help your child match pictures, build sight vocabulary, and recognize words with confidence using the "match, select, and name" process, and how phonics instruction can be introduced as their skills develop.
We’ll also explore a variety of resources and apps that can support and enhance your child’s learning journey, both at home and in educational settings.
This course is ideal for children in KS1 and above.
PLEASE NOTE - The course fee is £10 per delegate and payment is required in advance. If you are a school and need an invoice prior to making payment, please contact us at admin@dscheshire.org.uk.
