ABOUT DOWN SYNDROME CHESHIRE
We are a parent-founded charity supporting children, young people and adults with Down syndrome, their families, carers and the wider community across Cheshire.
For more than 15 years, we have helped people feel connected, informed, included and supported to live the life they choose.
Our vision
To empower people with Down syndrome to live the life they choose.
Our mission
To provide support, education, opportunity and community for people with Down syndrome, their families and those around them.
Our purpose
We create spaces where people feel understood, celebrated and supported to build confidence, independence, friendships and brighter futures.
Started by families, still shaped by families
Down Syndrome Cheshire was founded in 2007 by a group of parents who knew how powerful it was to meet others who understood. What began as a need for connection has grown into a county-wide charity supporting families, children, young people, adults, schools, professionals and communities.
Our Values
- Ambitious – striving for excellence in all that we do
- Supportive – fostering a caring and connected community
- Trusted – acting with integrity and transparency
- Dedicated – committed to our mission and beneficiaries
- Caring – approaching every relationship with compassion
Our roadmap: 2025–2028
Our strategy sets out how we will build on what works, respond to what families have told us, and grow the support, opportunities and services available across Cheshire.
